Dr Michael Raymont has been appointed president and CEO of AVAC Ltd after serving in an interim capacity for nine months (see page 1). Replacing CEO Ross Bricker, Raymont brings to AVAC a wide range of industry and government experience. In the private sector he served as president and CEO of EquipNet Direct, a Boston-area provider of excess capital asset solutions for industrial manufacturers, president of Alberta-based Westaim Biomedical and held executive positions with firms in the telecommunications and engineering materials sectors. In government he served as the National Research Council's VP technology and industry support overseeing a portfolio that included the Industrial Research Assistance Program. He was appointed acting NRC president following the departure of Dr Arthur Carty — a position he held for 10 months (R$, April 6/04). A Killam scholar, Raymont holds a Hon BSc in chemistry from the Univ of Bristol and a PhD in chemistry from the Univ of Calgary….
