Dr Kevin Hall has been appointed VP research at the Univ of Guelph, effective January 1st. Hall comes to Guelph from Queen's Univ, which he joined in 1987, rising to the head of the civil engineering department in 2005. He is also director of Queen's Centre for Water and the Environment and has been involved in the founding of a number of companies that developed water-borne bacteria detection technologies. The Univ of Guelph is beginning a major push to expand its research base and Hall's research focus is aligned with its emphasis on internationalism, humanitarianism and environmental sustainability. It currently receives a major chunk of research funding from the province of Ontario to conduct its agricultural research. Hall is a graduate of Queen's Univ and the Univ of South Wales....
