Dr Denis Thérien

Dr Denis Thérien has been appointed VP research at the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) after a five-year term as VP research at McGill Univ which ended last December. Thérien is a senior scientist at McGill's School of Computer Science and was the school's director prior to 2005. He will report to Dr Chaviva Hosek and will be responsible for seeking out new advanced research questions for study, building teams of Canadian and international researchers, developing next generation research leaders and expanding CIFAR's international reach. Thérien is part of the institute's senior management team which include Dr Mel Silverman and Dr Pekka Sinervo.
