Dr Camille Limoges

Dr Camille Limoges has been appointed to the governing council of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). Limoges, who recently retired from the Quebec civil service, has enjoyed an impressive career in government and academia and is acknowledged as the “father of modern science and technology policy” in Quebec. The Montreal native received his PhD in 1968 from Sorbonne Univ in Paris. After several years of teaching, he entered government as a DM in 1983 to help build the infrastructure for the province’s science policy. He returned to academia four years later and helped to establish the Centre de recherché en evaluation sociale des technologies and the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche sura la science et la technologie. In 1997 he left government again to serve a three-year term as president of the Conseil de la science et de la technologie. After a final two-year stint in government as DM of the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology, he stepped down earlier this year to concentrate on research and writing….
