Douglas Robertson, former director of Innovation Policy and Research Projects with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, has been appointed founding president and CEO of Tech South East Inc. (www.techsoutheast.ca). Tech Southeast is a new innovation intermediary focused on accelerating innovation-based economic growth and entrepreneurship in the ICT and health sciences sectors in south east New Brunswick. The initiative stems from several years of research and consultation conducted by the Moncton Technology Planning Group, including an asset mapping and strategic actions report prepared by the IC2 Institute (Univ of Texas at Austin), a benchmarking mission to Oulu, Finland, and extensive consultation and focus group sessions with area entrepreneurs and stakeholders. Located in Moncton, NB, Tech South East is membership-based and has strategic partnership agreements with the region's municipalities, post-secondary institutions, and government agencies.
