CRTI pumps $18.3 million into 12 new projects

The federal government has funded 12 new counter-terrorism R&D projects through the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Research and Technology Initiative (CRTI), a $170-million program established in 2001. The $18.3 million in funding will support projects in CRTI’s key program areas of technology acceleration, research and technology development and technology demonstration. Of the total, $2.4 million will be used to buy technology for participating federal laboratories. Successful projects are in the areas of agriculture and forest crops, S&T for training and equipping first responders and collective command and control for planning and response.
