Chairs programs announces latest round of awards

The Canada Research Chairs (CRC) program has announced 194 new awards valued at $194 million, bringing the program’s total to 1,348. The funding includes $23.1 million in infrastructure support from the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The new chairs also include 79 expatriates and foreign researchers. Women make up 35% of the new awards, raising their overall share of Chairs to 20%. Researchers associated with Science and Engineering Research Canada (NSERC) received 79 or 40.7% of the new awards, 56% of which were externally recruited. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research received 65 for a 33.5% share (34% externally recruited), while the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council received 50 chairs for a 26% share (26% externally recruited)....
