CCI program invests $36 million in 60 new initiatives

The College and Community Innovation (CCI) program has announced $36 million over five years in new awards for 60 partnerships between colleges and businesses at 35 colleges and cegeps. The awards bring the total invested through the CCI program to $160 million since 2009. The awards are made in six grant types including two new areas announced in the 2011 Budget — Industrial Research Chairs for Colleges (14 were announced) and College-University Idea to Innovation (three projects funded). The other award types are: Innovation Enhancement Grants, Technology Access Centre Grants, Applied R&D Grants and Applied Research Tools and Instruments Grants. CCI is managed by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council on behalf of all three granting councils….
