Carol Stephenson has been appointed dean of the Univ of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business for a five-year term, effective July 1. She replaces Lawrence Tapp who is retiring after an eight-year stint. Stephenson is the former president and CEO of Lucent Technologies Canada and brings a wealth of expertise to the position, including strategic planning, technology development, financial management, operations and marketing. Prior to joining Lucent, Stephenson was president and CEO (The Americas) for BCE Media Inc and also served as president and CEO of Stentor Resource Centre Inc which represented Canada’s nine phone companies. She joined the telecommunications sector in 1973 with Bell Canada and moved up the ranks until she held the position of VP in 1988. Stephenson is a graduate of the Univ of Toronto and completed an executive program at the Univ of California at Berkley’s graduate school of business administration, as well as the advanced management program at Harvard Univ....
