Carmen Charette has been appointed senior VP of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), replacing the retiring Dr Janet Halliwell. Charette moves to SSHRC following a year-long stint at Industry Canada as executive director, external relations and innovation, in the science and innovation sector. She is best known as senior VP at the Canada Foundation for Innovation, having joined the organization at its inception in 1997. At SSHRC, Charette will be responsible for coordination of corporate policy, strategy development, external and internal communications and corporate performance (measurement and demonstration of SSHRC-funded research). The position also includes the promotion of sound governance, and stewardship of ethics and integrity. Charette moved into her new position April 16th….
