Carleton U boosts India studies with new chair

Carleton Univ is augmenting its new Canada-India Centre of Excellence in Science, Technology, Trade and Policy with the country's first full-fledged India chair. The visiting chair will conduct India-related research. The announcement coincided with the signing of a memorandum of understanding and a "generous" but unspecified contribution by the Indian government. Carleton currently has 25 faculty members conducting India-related research, partnerships with seven Indian post-secondary institutions and many formal relationships with Indian businesses and organizations. The government has designated 2011 as the Year of India in Canada....
