Carleton launches Jarislowsky research chair

The Montreal-based Jarislowsky Foundation and Carleton Univ are partnering to establish a $4-million Jarislowsky Chair in Water and Global Health. The foundation will contribute $2 million with matching funds from Carleton as part of the university's $300-million Collaborate fundraising campaign. Although the chair will be situated in the Faculty of Engineering and Design's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, it is intended to be pan-university and interdisciplinary, encompassing engineering, public policy, environ- mental monitoring and health. The chair will build on Carleton's research capacity in water issues, particularly wastewater treatment. An international search has been launched to fill the chair The foundation has now endowed 29 chairs across Canada....
