Canada and Israel consider joint space missions

MacDonald, Dettwiler & Associates Ltd (MDA) and COM DEV International Ltd are each receiving $300,000 from the federal government to conduct concept studies for potential Canada-Israel space missions. MDA will partner with Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd (IAI) to study the feasibility of an advanced payload for a future mission that would enhance the flexibility of next generation satellite communications. The study by COM DEV and its subsidiary exactEarth will examine a potential Israel–Canada Advanced Radio & thermal-location µ (micro) Satellite mission to demonstrate a low-cost nano-satellite constellation using receivers to locate maritime vessels. The potential mission would be undertaken in collaboration with IAI and Elbit Systems Electro-Optics Elop Ltd....
