Bell pumps $5 million into university labs program

Bell Canada is spending $5 million to expand its Bell University Labs program in British Columbia and Alberta. The new funding is over five years and begins in 2004. The investment was announced by BCE Inc CEO Michael Sabia in a speech to the Vancouver Board of Trade, as part of a larger expansion of its Western Canadian operations. Bell’s academic partners in the two province have not been announced. Established in 1998, the Labs program strives to enhance collaboration between industry and academia and stimulate multidisciplinary projects....
