BDC & DFAIT expand tech accelerator program

BDC Venture Capital is teaming with the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) to expand the latter's Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) program into the northeastern US. The one-year agreement (with an option to renew) will see the CTA program expand beyond its four centres in the San Francisco/Silicon Valley area to New York, Boston and Philadelphia. BDC VC is also establishing accelerators in Canada (Growlab, Extreme Startups, Hyperdrive and FounderFuel) and plans to connect small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) emerging from accelerators in both countries. CTAs provide select SMEs with free office space, mentoring and networking opportunities and introduces key players from the business and technology communities. The program focuses on SMEs in clean tech, information technology, life sciences, gaming and healthcare….
