The Alberta Ingenuity Fund has launched a new program aimed at assisting industry researchers in gaining new research expertise. The $2.2-million program — Ingenuity Associates — is open to individuals with a recent PhD seeking to gain advanced research experience in a university, college, technical institute or private firm. The above organizations can sponsor applicants or they can host a research associate from another organization by providing a mentor and a lab. Successful applicants will receive a $40,000 annual stipend and a $15,000 research allowance. In 2002, 40 awards will be made, dropping to 20 in subsequent years. The $500-million Alberta Ingenuity Fund supports science and engineering research and now has four different programs in place. FMI: www.albertaingenuity.com....
