The Alberta Ingenuity (AI) fund has awarded $7.5 million over five years to create the Alberta Ingenuity Centre for Water Research. The new Centre builds on water research expertise at the province’s three major universities in studies and applications related to the health of freshwater systems. The research is also expected to be of benefit to the oil and gas and forestry industries, whose future expansion depends on better understanding provincial water resources. The Centre is the third virtual research centre funded by AI and was chosen from 26 letters of intent. Its co-directors are Dr Ed McCauley (Univ of Calgary), Dr Stewart Rood (Univ of Lethbridge) and Dr Daniel Smith (Univ of Alberta)....
