TRIUMF has revamped and renamed its commercialization arm in a bid to boost the industrial uptake of its research and discoveries. Formerly known as Advanced Applied Physics Solutions Inc (AAPS), TRIUMF Innovations will be led by recently recruited Kathryn Hayashi who previously served as the founding CFO of the Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) and has more than 25 years of industry experience. TRIUMF Innovations will provide a business interface between TRIUMF and industry by focusing on assessing, triaging and validating technologies, preparing business cases, creating companies, enabling investment, engaging and developing entrepreneurs, building industry partnerships and out-licensing TRIUMF technologies. A new nine-member board of directors has also been assembled, chaired by Karimah Esabar, CEO of Quark Ventures and former CEO of CDRD.
