Three Ottawa-based museums within the federal Canada Science and Technology Museums Corp are being rebranded as Ingenium — Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation. The re-branding was announced days prior to Canada’s 150 celebrations and encompasses the Canada Science and Technology Museum, Canada Aviation and Space Museum and Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. Ingenium promises “an immersive, sensory encounter with human ingenuity” and will include the forthcoming Collections Conservation Centre which will house a research institute and media lab. The S&T museum is the largest of the group and is currently closed until November while it undergoes an $80-million expansion and renovation complemented by a new $156-million facility to house its massive inventory of collections.
