Sierra Wireless to develop new wireless device

Sierra Wireless Inc, Richmond BC, has launched a $33.7-million R&D project to develop an integrated “smartphone” wireless communications device. Assisted with $9.5 million from Technology Partnerships Canada, Sierra will advance its integrated wireless messaging and modem technology that combines the functionality of a personal digital assistant, telephone, note pad and Internet-enabled wireless tool. Based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 platform, the product will form part of the company’s Voq Professional Phone family....
