Sandvine launches R&D project with TPC assistance

Waterloo ON-based Sandvine Inc is launching a $30.3-million R&D project to enhance the operations of Internet service providers (ISPs) with $9.5 million in assistance from Technology Partnerships Canada (TPC). With the TPC investment, the two-year-old software firm plans to accelerate and broaden its R&D activities by developing technology — known as Sandvine Subscriber Services Cluster. It optimizes the way information flows through ISPs and provides new enhanced services such as firewall, anti-virus and parental controls. More specifically, the R&D will leverage the network by enhancing connectivity through improved bandwidth management, executing real-time packet inspections, increasing the scalability of equipment and enabling network based services (content filtering, real-time anti-virus, etc)….
