NRC expands astrophysics facility in BC

The National Research Council (NRC) has opened a $10-million extension of its laboratory complex of the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics (HIA) near Victoria. The extension is part of the NRC’s strategy to promote industrial innovation and economic growth on Southern Vancouver Island. The announcement was made at the Vancouver Island Regional Innovation Roundtable last month.The new facility includes incubator space and R&D support services. In early 2002, NRC announced plans to build new facilities at HIA’s Penticton BC-based Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory to boost expertise in the acquisition and processing of signals....
