MITACS restructures as NCE funding winds down

MITACS is being restructured as two separate organizations to ensure sustainability as it nears the end of its life as a Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE). Mitacs Inc will have broader mandate than its predecessor and retain the organization's suite of programs to address attraction, retention and training of highly qualified personnel in collaboration with industry. Those programs are: Mitacs-Accelerate, Mitacs Step, Mitacs Elevate, Mitacs Globalink and Mitacs Outreach. Mitacs Inc will administer funding provided by the NCE's Industrial Research and Development Internship program. A new entity called Mprime networks Inc is being created to fulfill its sunsetting NCE mandate. To lead the organizations, Mitacs has appointed Brad Bennett (McIntosh Properties) as its new board chair, while Dr Arvind Gupta will continue as scientific director. Mprime's board chair is Dr Allen Eaves (Stemcell Technologies) while Dr Nassi Ghoussoub will serve as scientific director....
