MEOPAR awards $3.5 million to seven projects

The Marine Environmental, Observation, Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR) has awarded $3.5 million to seven projects that competed in its second open call for applications. The targeted basic research projects are led by universities and address issues such as fog ice, ship noise, radioactivity, whale-ship collisions, storms and tsunamis. The successful projects' lead investigators are located at Dalhousie Univ, Univ of British Columbia, Univ of Victoria, Memorial Univ, Univ of Waterloo and Univ of Quebec at Rimouski. MEOPAR was established in 2012 with $25 million in funding from the traditional Networks of Centres of Excellence program. For project details, go to www.meopar.ca....
