Through ISED, the Government of Canada will invest $9 million over three years in the Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub (WEKH) as part of the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy announced in Budget 2018. WEKH will lead research, collect data and share knowledge on advancing entrepreneurship among women in Canada. It will also report on the progress of women entrepreneurs, providing a yardstick against which to measure progress toward the government's goal of doubling the number of majority women-owned businesses by 2025. Following a competitive process, Ryerson Univ has been selected to host the WEKH and lead a consortium of partners comprised of eight regional hubs, 10 partners and 37 supporters. The regional hubs will span from Venture Labs in Vancouver to Dalhousie Univ in Halifax to ensure women entrepreneurs across Canada have access to WEKH’s resources and expertise. The WEKH was announced on December 3, 2018 by The Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business and Export Promotion.
