Hydrogen firms win early adopters contracts

Industry Canada is investing $7.1 million in three hydrogen and hydrogen-compatible technology demonstration projects through Technology Partnership Canada’s Hydrogen Early Adopters program. Hydrogenics Corp, Mississauga, will receive $4.2 million to demonstrate fuel cell technologies related to transportation. They include hydrogen-powered delivery and utility vehicles, a hydrogen production and refuelling facility and further development of on-board and off-board monitoring and diagnostic tools. Ballard Power Systems, Burnaby BC, receives $2 million to demonstrate proton exchange membrane fuel cell-based power supply and back-up systems in three actual settings. Fuel Cell Technologies Ltd, Kingston ON, receives $935,000 to demonstrate heating and power generation using solid oxide fuel cells at a student residence at the Univ of Toronto….
