Toronto’s George Brown College has launched its first comprehensive certificate program in blockchain technology. Addressing the shortage of blockchain developers in a rapidly growing market, the Blockchain Development Program, will make George Brown College the first Canadian school to provide a full-time blockchain-focused certification course, joining an exclusive academic circle which also includes MIT and Princeton.

The program was developed with input from leading industry professionals in response to skyrocketing demand for advanced blockchain skills and expertise. Research by the Information and Communications Technology Council estimates that by 2024, more than 100,000 blockchain jobs will be created in Canada.

Presented in an executive format, the curriculum will have 20 students receiving an estimated 20 hours per week of study over a 26-week period. Graduates will be fully trained to work in the various industries that are embracing in-demand technology including banking, global finance, healthcare and government.
